2024/2025 WINTER SMHL DETAILS

 

KEY DETAILS REGARDING THE UPCOMING SMHL WINTER SEASON!

 

  • Regular season start date: November 16th/17th weekend
  • Regular season end date: January 18th/19th
  • Championship weekend: February 7th/8th weekend
  • Off weekends: November 30th/December 1st & December 28th/29th weekends
  • Regular season games: (14)
  • Registration Deadline: November 1st
  • Cost: $1100
  • Teams will receive first half schedule prior to the start of the season. During the December break we will look at team standings and records and will schedule the second half of the season schedule to ensure competitive games.  Teams may play up or down a grade level if needed. Teams will return to their original grade level for the playoffs.

 

 

SMHL MORE INFORMATION

  1. We will separate each grade level into divisions, based on your rankings when you registered. While this is a good starting point, remember that we will re-examine these at the halfway point and move teams up or down accordingly. Our mission is to have all teams play competitive games regardless of age or grade level. 
  2. The number of teams making the tournaments will be determined by the number of teams playing in that division. Although not all teams will qualify for the playoffs, we understand the desire to do so. At this point we will NOT use a standard mathematical formula such as 1/2 or 2/3s of the teams qualify.
  3. League rules require that all players may only be on ONE team and MUST come from the same town, school, or school district. If any team has players from more than one of these, there will be an asterisk placed beside their name in the standings and that team will be ineligible for tournament participation.
  4. We ask that you limit the individual scheduling requests if it all possible. You can understand how difficult it can be to schedule this many games (over 2000) when trying to meet every request.
  5. It is our intent to complete and distribute the first half schedule at least a week prior to the first scheduled games. 
  6. While we will be using several gyms throughout the winter, we will try to keep teams as close to their home whenever possible. If it is necessary to have you travel some distance, we will diligently attempt to limit such trips.
  7. Recognizing that we may into inclement weather, we may be forced to adjust the schedule at any point. If in doubt at any time go on our website for updates. We want to have the games played as scheduled but safety MUST be paramount.
  8. If for any reason your team is unable to make a game, please notify us as soon as possible so we can contact everyone who may be impacted. 
  9. There will be a site supervisor at all locations where games are played. Immediately after each game, the score will be recorded on the website. We take great pride in keeping our website updated and accurate.
  10. All coaches must email their team rosters to Steve Haines prior to their first game
